Meet the Designer

Macie with construction crane

Macie Jayne

At her heart, designer Macie Jayne Roberto is a highly creative, practical, collaborative, problem-solver with an impeccable eye and sense of style.  She brings these assets to her clients along with her fun-loving nature, positivity, and knack for solving sticky design dilemmas! This busy wife and mother of three’s working style is to make a statement—for you.  A statement that intuitively communicates you/your family’s personality and sums up clever and progressive design choices.  Rest assured she will have thoroughly thought through how your space would/could be used.

Born in Kansas- raised in New York and Texas- living and working in Spain, the Caribbean and Italy, she brings breadth and experience to her clients.  With international business jobs that took her around the globe for 10 years, she has met with incredible individuals, cultures and living spaces that add "the color" to her creative and innovative designs.

After graduating with a degree in Latin American Studies and International Political Science from Vanderbilt University, Macie never quite anticipated running her own design business--- despite the fact that being an artist, architect, or interior designer "runs in the family". After getting married, Macie and her husband took on several homes and remodeled them into beautiful spaces. Loving the creativity and challenge of this, she decided to switch gears to pursue a second degree in design, and start her own company helping clients rethink, redesign, and remodel.

Macie brings honesty to her designs.  To her this means that she honors the integrity, history, and natural surroundings of the buildings she designs.  She also isn’t the “take it or leave it” kind of designer.  She seeks to understand her clients to honor what they want, need, or may not have even realized… yet.  With every project she injects their personality and “fingerprint” into the design.

As a practical mom of 3, and a daughter of a parent who used a wheelchair, she has also needed to figure out how to modify spaces that work for every stage of life.  Flexing space from babies to teens and recognizing the value of remodeling homes for aging in place, Macie integrates modern design, function, and style to the space -- perfect for today’s families.

One home has made Macie the well-rounded and notable designer she is today. She and her husband bought a 1910 expanded log cabin on a lake with perfect views of wilderness, but that was rotting from year to year.  Challenged by the realization that they couldn’t save the logs, she redesigned the heart home, and every inch of remodel also done to the rest of the house.  She fought to preserve the charm and history of the home yet improved every aspect of what didn’t work about it.  She oversaw the reconstruction of the home while her family of five lived in the other half.  For two years, she saw it all and lived it all, and knows better than anyone the challenging experience of living through reconstruction and remodeling.  She makes an incredibly empathetic partner able to be your key designer and project manager or integrate well into a team of architects or general contractors.
